Escape report Geoffrey Keith Luggar & Raymond Charles Peters

British paratroopers Geoffrey Keith Luggar & Raymond Charles Peters were dropped over Normandy during the night of 5 to 6 June 1944. They were hidden by the French until repatriated to England via Bayeux.

"Our operation up to the time of being dropped on the night 5/6 June 44 is as related by Lieutenant BROWNE.

We were dropped about 2 kms from St Etienne (France, 1:250,000, sheet 8, L 4604). We were at large for four days and made no French contacts.

On the fifth day we approached a farmhouse. We were taken in and given shelter and food. This was TOURGEVILLE (L4308). We were first hidden in a concrete storage pill box for about six days and then taken to the farmhouse till 7 Aug.

On 7 Aug we met L/Cpl Palfrey and Pte Matthews and we were taken by two members of the Resistance Movement to ST PIERRE AZIF (L 4205) where we remained till 21 Aug. We then heard that the British troops were near, and we were taken in a civilian car to BLONVILLE (L4208) and then evacuated through BAYEUX to this country."
